Written by a mom of two Wedgwood Co-op alumni:
I'll be honest. I first chose Wedgwood Cooperative because the tuition was very affordable. The tour was great, and I really just wanted a place to help my child build his social skills. It ended up changing my life. That sounds dramatic, but it really was a transformation for me in multiple ways. First, the parent education ended up being the most important aspect of co-op for me. It completely changed how I parent, all for the better. The incredible parent educators go above and beyond. Without their guidance, I would have been much more stressed and my children would have missed the kind of emotional support they deserve. Secondly, Wedgwood Co-op gave me a community. I moved to Seattle with a baby, knowing no one in the city. Stumbling into a cooperative preschool was the best thing that happened to my social life. Working in the classroom with other parents and attending evening events helped me connect with other adults. I made friends who I still see to this day, even though our children no longer attend school together. Years later, our kids play on teams together, take lessons together, and fall back into play together very easily. If you want to connect with other families in Northeast Seattle, or if you feel like your parenting could use some support (and who can't use more parenting help!), Wedgwood Cooperative Preschool is for you and your child. |
