What is co-op?
Cooperative preschools offer a place of learning for children and their parents!
Co-ops have age-based classes that provide children with a quality preschool experience and are administered and maintained by the teacher and parents. Parents (grandparents) assist the professional teacher in the classroom one day a week and each family shares in the business operation of the school making it truly a cooperative experience. A developmentally appropriate curriculum is planned and carried out by the teacher and the children learn social, emotional, and intellectual skills through cooperative and creative play in a hands-on environment. Parent educators give guidance to teachers and help parents build their parenting skills both in class and during the monthly parent meetings. The preschool hosts all-school events that build community and friendships.
