What We Offer
For Children
Play and fun are what kids thrive on! Quality teachers provide a play-based curriculum built on preschooler’s interests and circle time offers a time for stories, quality music, and excitement! Wedgwood Co-op also values the benefits of playing outside and the play space is the perfect place for outside exploration and learning. Social-emotional skills are practiced in a safe supportive environment so preschoolers will have the social skills needed for a great start in elementary school. Older preschoolers will also enjoy field trips, cooking classes, and a variety of special-theme presentations by guests invited to the classroom. Wedgwood Co-op is a great place to start the love of learning! For Parents Wedgwood Co-op is a great program full of opportunities for parents. Parents own and operate the school allowing each parent to be personally involved in their child’s education. Being a part of a co-op helps parents to expand their parenting skills by learning from the wisdom and parenting tools of parent educators, PAC lectures provided throughout the year, and most importantly from other parents in their same life stage! For Community Both parents and children benefit from being part of a cooperative preschool's invested and supportive community. Whether it is the fun of playdates and grabbing a cup of coffee or carpooling and childcare swapping, the support is felt by the whole family and friendships are made. Wedgwood Co-op offers accessible tuition, quality parent education, and school wide community events throughout the year. Our commitment to teaching inclusion and celebrating diversity is an essential part of our community building within our school and throughout our Northeast Seattle neighborhood. Wedgwood Co-op truly is a family of families and a great place to find your “village”! |
Policies
Wedgwood Cooperative Preschool is owned and operated by enrolled families. That means that each preschool in the North Seattle College system has slightly different policies depending on the decisions made by their board. Parents are encouraged to take the opportunity to serve on the board and shape their child's experience.
Here are some of the policies that make Wedgwood Co-op a desirable preschool:
Here are some of the policies that make Wedgwood Co-op a desirable preschool:
- Babes-in-Arms. To support families with new babies, parents may bring an infant under the age of six months to an older sibling’s class on the parent's workday. (Infant must be approved and registered, and certain rules must be followed in class.)
- Twins or Multiples. To facilitate parent/child separation, parents with more than one child in the same class may be permitted to work less in the classroom. (Must be approved to ensure that the class maintains proper ratios.)
- Alternate Caregivers. Adults other than the child's parents, such as a nanny or grandparent, may fulfill the classroom workday requirement. (Must be approved, and alternate caregiver must register with NSC.)
